Melamine whiteboards are an economical option suited to light or occasional use but may stain or ghost over time. Porcelain whiteboards have a harder, more durable surface that resists scratching and ghosting, making them ideal for classrooms and busy offices. Glass whiteboards provide a premium, non-porous writing surface that is highly resistant to staining and very easy to clean.
Some glass whiteboards are magnetic, but not all. Magnetic glass boards usually contain a steel backing behind the glass and often require strong rare-earth or high-strength magnets, as standard fridge magnets may not work effectively through the glass.
Yes. Many whiteboards can be manufactured to custom dimensions to suit specific walls, classrooms, meeting rooms or office layouts. Depending on the supplier, you may also be able to customise the frame, surface, colour, printing, grids, logos or mounting configuration.
For everyday cleaning, erase the board with a clean whiteboard eraser or microfibre cloth. For a deeper clean, use a purpose-made whiteboard cleaner and a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive cleaners or rough pads that could damage the writing surface.
The lifespan depends largely on the surface quality and how frequently the board is used. A basic melamine board may be best suited to several years of lighter use, while high-quality porcelain or glass whiteboards can last for many years or even decades when properly maintained.
